ITALIAN APERITIVO, Last Thursday!
The amber glow of a Negroni catching the early evening light. The gentle clinking of glasses filled with vibrant Aperol Spritz. The animated conversations floating through piazzas as locals unwind after work. This is APERITIVO time - the Italian happy hour, but with a cultural significance that runs far deeper than simply discounted drinks. As a social institution dating back over 200 years, aperitivo represents the intersection of Italy’s reverence for food, drink, and community. It’s a ritual that transforms the awkward gap between work and dinner into something magical - a celebration of friendship, connection, and the art of slowing down.

Exploring Volcanic Wines - Italian Evening 19 November
Salt, grit and power. The soil is Lava.
Volcanic wines are the result of an extraordinary meeting between nature and viticulture. Regardless of whether the volcano is active, dormant, or extinct, the composition of lava-based soils creates an ideal environment for vine cultivation. These soils, in addition of being rich in minerals, offer excellent drainage and natural resistance to phylloxera. This allows for the cultivation of ungrafted vines, which can live for a long time, producing the renowned old vineyards, yielding intense, complex and long-lived wines. Another great evening not to be missed, with Pedro's phenomenal knowledge entertaining our guests.
Ticket includes 9 wines tasting, traditional food and fun :-). Booking is essential. R700.00

GIORGIO AND GEORGE DALLA CIA, 27 November
The name of Giorgio will always be associated with the iconic Rubicon, of the first Bordeaux style blends in South Africa which earned him the accolade of South Africa’s Champion winemaker in 1980 and producer of the best red in the world in 2006. A graduate of the exclusive Scuola Enologica di Conegliano in Italy, cook, philosopher, gourmand, antiques collector and wild mushroom expert, Giorgio has long shared his love of good wine and culinary pleasures with an enchanted public. George’s first role in the Dalla Cia Venture was to learn all the family secrets of fine Grappa making passed on through generations, first to his father, then to him. George is still much involved in the grappa distillation and in the wine making side. While maintaining the long-standing Dalla Cia traditions, George is also responsible for introducing groundbreaking concepts, which ensure that the brand carves a niche for itself in the future. It is no secret that Giorgio is a mentor, a father, a friend for us. Giorgio and Simonetta, his wife, and their children became family to us as soon as we met in our early days in South Africa. This event is a VERY special one, not only about sharing good wines and food, it is about sharing love and family with you all. Ticket includes wines tasting, food and fun :-). Booking is essential.
