Meet the Excellence of Paarl at The Wine Hive, 24 March - Xander Sadie and Brookdale Wine
Brookdale Estate is the pinnacle of the Rudd family’s passions. Here, Mediterranean varietals, a unique Paarl terroir and unusual winemaking techniques are brought together under the visionary hand of owner, Tim Rudd and winemaker at the time, Kiara Scott Farmer. The first step in this vision – produce fine and interesting wine blends using unusual varietals in a South African context. Before vines could be planted, 67 hectares of alien vegetation and overgrown vines had to be cleared in order to restore balance to the land. Indigenous vegetation and gardens were created in abundance alongside new, thoughtfully planted vineyards.
TASTING OF BROOKDALE WINES, FOOD PAIRING - Price is all inclusive. R700/pp
TIME 6.00pm for 6.30pm SHARP!
LOCATION: THE WINE HIVE, 132 Main Road, Paarl

Meet Jeremy Borg, Painted Wolf, 8 April
In 2006, Emma and Jeremy Borg decided to create a wine company with two main aims – to raise money to build a more hopeful future for endangered African wild dogs and to allow Jeremy to pursue his ambitions as a winemaker, which he has done with great determination and flair.
We are honoured to host Jeremy, celebrating the 20th anniversary of Painted Wolf wines, in a special evening at the Wine Hive.
Jeremy sometimes reverts to his previous identity as a chef and makes excellent food to pair with his wines. Working together on the menu was great fun and we are looking forward to showcase the perfect pizza pairing with Painted Wolf Wines!
DATE 8/4/2026
Time 6pm for 6.30pm

Meet Pierre Wahl, Survivor Wines, 23 April
Pierre Wahl
Acclaimed winemaker Pierre Wahl leads Survivor Wines as our Cellar Master. Known as “The Pope of Pinotage”, Pierre brings passion, precision, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Under his guidance, South Africa’s flagship red grape, Pinotage, truly thrives, reflecting both his mastery and dedication. Raised on a citrus farm, where his love for nature and farming began. Studied Cellar Technology at Elsenburg Agricultural College, as the youngest student in his class. Graduated in 1995 and embarked on a winemaking career with positions at Niel Joubert Wines (Paarl) and Môreson (Franschhoek), gaining international exposure.
Pierre’s love for Pinotage was inspired by a bottle of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, a moment he describes as goosebump-inducing and transformative. Today, he channels that inspiration into wines made from three distinct regions: Darling, Swartland en Tradouw. In 2022, he joined Survivor Wines, a brand positioned to carry Pinotage into a bold new era under his leadership. Pierre’s winemaking style reflects a balance of power and elegance — strength with finesse. Known for converting sceptics by pouring Pinotage blind, allowing its quality to speak for itself.
