Nomoya Wines

Hands on grapes, loving the stickiness left after a few minutes. Overwhelmed by the views, the different hints from each farm. The noises and the silences. The smiles and the concentrated looks of the workers. Harvest is the most beautiful time of the year for farmers and winemakers.

Berries are selected, cherished and lovingly harvested to be the future wines.

Capturing dreams in a bottle

Nomoya Wines is more than just a wine brand. We aim to deliver an offering of wines which tells a story and leaves a lingering impression of its quality assurance and uniqueness.

Nomoya sources its grapes from producers whose passion ranges from quality, to people, to land, and who are constantly challenging and pioneering the path of wine in South Africa.

The brands’ vision is to give rise to new and exciting varieties in South Africa, creating a platform to the different soil climates and acclimating the potential that South Africa was, is, and yet still is to become.

NOMOYA VERMENTINO

IT IS ALL ABOUT WATER, IT IS ALL ABOUT WINE

THE YACHTSMAN'S WINE

Imagine a balmy afternoon on the Mediterranean Sea.  You are drifting away into the blue, sipping on a chilled wine that engulfs your palate with its revitalizing freshness.  The salty maritime air makes way for the aromatic scent of maquis, evergreen shrubs growing in Mediterranean coastal regions but tangled with the sweet perfume of wild lavender and rosemary ...

It is 4 pm, and this quintessential picture, a highly improbable moment in time, is rudely disturbed by a phone that bulldozes your daydreaming as the last gruelling hour of a nine-to-fiver slowly ticks over.

For most of us, the rich and famous lifestyle might only be a fleeting thought. Still, the vivacious character of the Italian grape cultivar, Vermentino, can transport you, even if only for a short while, into a world where nothing else exists but you, the wine and plenty of sunshine. After all, it is fondly referred to as the wine from the sea.

The Wallstreet Journal once dubbed Vermentino "The Yachtsman’s White" and as summer instils a renewed wanderlust, Nomoya is nicknaming theirs The Yachtsman's Wine. Vermentino is a remarkably versatile wine, fit for sipping on the deck of a sailboat, after a refreshing swim, or while taking in the views as the sun sets over a sliver of ocean in the distance.

From the Mediterranean Sea to the adored seascape of South Africa.

Proudly parenting the first Vementino vineyard planted in South Africa,  Nomoya also wishes to highlight the significance of Vermentino as a lesser-known wine grape varietal. Vermentino is mainly grown and made in Sardinia, Italy, but making significant inroads worldwide as a fine wine enjoyed in trending wine bars, fine dining restaurants or from the deck of your beach shack. Thriving under the South African sun, this wine also speaks to the outdoor lifestyle of South Africans while it can transport your senses to any place you want to be. The grape's adaptability makes it retain its natural acidity and purity of fruit. At the same time, it shines in different styles. The Nomoya Vermentino 2021 is layered with lively aromas of apple and pear, poised on a textured mouthfeel and saline thread reminiscent of the ocean that adds length and finesse. A slight herbaceous and spicy edge adds a savoury gloss, making this a fantastic food wine throughout summer.
